Answers:
  1. Some teens commit suicide because they feel overwhelmingly hopeless and struggle with keeping up with friends or family and eventually become depressed. Drugs and alcohol are also a major contributor to teen suicides. Some teens don't have any family members to support them or they feel lonely throughout their lifetime.
  2. There are some outreach programs for troubled teens like Outward Bound.org. They take teens to an outdoor trip to help them get out of their shell and experience  new things. There are other places where teens can go to such as clinics or institutions. Teens can even go to their school councilor to talk privately.
  3.   If someone you know is suicidal or is in danger of committing suicide or has made a suicide attempt: don't leave the person alone. Call 911 or a local emergency number right away. If you think you can do it safely, take the person to the nearest hospital emergency room yourself.
  4. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24. Most teens attempt suicide during their high school years, a study shows, because of stress.
  5. Teens who are suicidal usually show warning signs in which teachers or parents can prevent and get help. There are people teens can talk to so they don't have to feel alone or feel any more troubled than they already are. There is help out there, troubled teens just need a bit of help to find it.

Survey:

  1. Out of the 29 people that I surveyed, 13 of them said they know or have heard of teens that committed suicide.
  2. Out of the 29 people I surveyed, 13 of them said they do not know or have heard of teens that committed suicide.
  3. Based on my survey, there is an equal amount of people that have either known of someone that has committed suicide or don't know anyone that has committed suicide. This shows that some people are well aware of this problem in young teens. This also shows that some people don't even have a clue as to what goes on in a teen's life.
